Grid, Asset & System Platform
The Grid Asset & System Platform (GrASP) is the enablement platform that provides generic, reusable capabilities for building and operating modular system critical applications. It serves as a unified foundation for system operations, standardizing core functionalities such as data transfer and protocol translation, identity and access management, event and notification handling, and UI development and serving. By clearly separating platform enablement from business logic, GrASP establishes a shared and consistent foundation across MCCS and partner solutions. GrASP forms the digital backbone of the MCCS ecosystem and turns individual products into a coherent platform ecosystem.
Use case
GrASP is used by MCCS product teams and partners to develop and operate applications without having to repeatedly design and implement foundational platform capabilities. When building new modules, teams can rely on existing services such as IAM for fine grained access control, the Adaptation Suite for integrating external systems, the UI Enablement for consistent frontend behavior, and the Logbook for business event tracking and auditability. Instead of creating isolated solutions, teams adopt these services via standardized interfaces in a self service manner. This allows them to focus on domain-specific functionality while ensuring that all applications integrate seamlessly into the overall MCCS ecosystem.
Benefit
GrASP enables teams to focus on business functionality by taking ownership of non-business requirements by providing them once and making them reusable across all products.
This significantly reduces duplicated effort and lowers development and operational costs, since improvements and fixes benefit every consuming application. At the same time, it accelerates innovation and enables teams to focus on business functionality while establishing a shared, coherent foundation and a common backbone across MCCS. Consistency and governance are strengthened through standardized services, leading to a more coherent system landscape and a unified user experience, while also making the onboarding of new teams faster and more efficient.
Built once. Enable Many
As a result, the overall complexity of the MCCS ecosystem is reduced, enabling it to evolve in a controlled and sustainable way.
This leads to:
- Greater efficiency through shared capabilities
- Lower costs as improvements benefit all products
- Faster innovation with quicker and more consistent feature delivery
- Better user experience through unified design patterns

The technology behind it
GrASP is built as a collection of reusable platform services that provide shared capabilities for MCCS products. Each service addresses a specific non business enablement domain that would otherwise need to be implemented repeatedly by individual product teams.
The core platform services of GrASP are:
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
Provides centralized identity and authorization capabilities based on a relationship based access control (ReBAC) approach. It enables product teams to define domain specific permission models while relying on a shared service for permission evaluation, enforcement, and governance. - Adaptation Suite
Provides standardized integration capabilities for connecting external providers and target systems. It handles data ingestion, protocol translation, and governed data exchange, allowing product teams to consume approved data routes without implementing provider specific integrations themselves. - UI Module
Consists of a UI Shell Application and a shared UI Component Library. Together, they provide a common frontend framework, standardized navigation and authentication mechanisms, and a consistent look and feel across all MCCS products while supporting independent product development through a micro frontend approach. - Logbook
Provides centralized storage for business relevant events and user actions. It ensures immutability, traceability, and auditability while offering a shared and consistent view of activities across the MCCS platform.
Together, these services form the technological backbone of GrASP and provide the reusable building blocks required for the development and operation of modular system critical applications.
How does it work?
GrASP operates by providing centrally managed platform services that are consumed by product teams throughout the lifecycle of their applications. Each service is developed, maintained, and governed within the platform and exposes standardized APIs and integration patterns. Product teams integrate these services in a self service model, embedding them into their applications without owning their implementation or operation. Business logic remains fully within the responsibility of the teams, while GrASP handles all recurring cross cutting concerns. Through centralized governance, all products adhere to the same standards for identity, integration, event handling, and user experience. As platform services evolve, improvements are automatically propagated to all consuming applications, ensuring continuous enhancement and long term consistency across the entire MCCS ecosystem.
