Join us in Berlin: Grid Transformation Week
From 15 to 18 September 2026, we are uniting several flagship events into one focused week in partnership with LF Energy, the Linux Foundation’s energy initiative. This collaboration allows participants to benefit from cross‑event synergies and maximize their time on site, delivering a full week of cutting-edge developments, best-practice sharing, and top-level networking.
LF Energy Summit Europe 2026
Date: 15 – 16 September 2026
Location: SMARTVILLAGE BERLIN, Karl-Marx-Straße 101, 12043 Berlin
LF Energy Summit Europe 2026 brings the global LF Energy community together in Berlin for two days of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and practical insight into how open source software and standards are transforming energy systems. The event convenes utilities, grid operators, technology vendors, energy companies, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to showcase how open source is building production-grade digital infrastructure. Organized by LF Energy, a Linux Foundation initiative, the summit is part of the Grid Transformation Week in Berlin, offering an opportunity to connect with peers and leaders shaping the future of digital energy infrastructure.
The MCCS Checkpoint
Date: 16 September 2026 (Invitation only)
Location: Neuenhagen bei Berlin, Germany
The MCCS Checkpoint is the second highlight of Grid Transformation Week and is designed as a focused half‑day forum. In the first part, the event presents the latest internal developments and software releases of the Modular Control Center System (MCCS), providing insights into its evolution as a core building block for future‑ready grid operations. In the second part, international system operators and partners share recent digitalization developments and practical experience from grids around the world. Beyond technology updates, the MCCS Checkpoint fosters collaboration and co‑creation, encouraging experts, stakeholders, and practitioners to connect and to exchange ideas.

Global System Operations Summit
Date: 17–18 September 2026
Location: Central Berlin, Germany
The Grid Transformation Week concludes with the Global System Operations Summit, a two‑day international conference dedicated to the future of system operations.
Speakers from transmission and distribution system operators, regulators, technology providers, and research institutions from around the world come together to share real‑world experiences and best practices on how to make the energy transition happen, how to design and build the grid of the future and how to tackle current and upcoming challenges within the control room. Organized by 50Hertz, the summit positions itself as a central industry knowledge hub and follows a clear guiding principle: “By system operators, for system operators”. The event fosters collaboration across disciplines and supports the continuous advancement of system operation in a rapidly changing energy landscape.
The summit features parallel sessions, interactive formats, and technical deep dives that address both strategic and operational perspectives, all under the umbrella of “Ensuring Grid Stability for Tomorrow”. As a satellite event, the topology optimizer symposium will be back again – on top of that, there will be a hackathon organized by the people from EMC2. A web application that provides you with a live view of Day-Ahead (DA) and Intraday auction data (IDA 1,2 and 3) for the European electricity market - and was developed by our in house "The Nest" incubator team.
