European Hackathon on the Controlroom of the Future
TSO Groups Elia (Belgium and Germany) and TenneT (Netherlands and Germany) with their local TSOs 50Hertz (Elia) and TenneT Netherlands and Germany have the need to digitize and support system operations with state-of-the-art software solutions not available at the market today. 50Hertz’ MCCS (Modular Control Center System) and TenneT’s CROF (Control Room of the Future) initiatives met for a three-day hackathon to understand common challenges and to develop joint solutions.
A Focus on Immediate Solutions
Teams from both TSOs met to discuss strategic topics, technical background, and specific details such as questions of software architecture, or forecasting tools. As an exercise and to create a hands-on environment the software architects, IT engineers, scrum masters, and business process analysts used a common IT environment to test how
to approach the development of tools and modules for system operations today and in the future. This is the right way to evaluate a proof of concept, future technical usage, and cooperation possibilities.
Arya Fazilat, MCCS Labs:
It becomes immediately apparent that we all face the same challenges and that talking to each other and to cooperate brings value to all TSOs, the industry and society at large.
